Deputy Director Cai Weici said in his speech that the export situation of the machinery industry in recent years has far exceeded expectations, but it is difficult to say whether it will continue next year. According to his observation, in 2004, the import and export deficit of the machinery industry was as high as 36.6 billion US dollars. It was not until 2006 that the general balance of import and export trade volume was basically achieved. Since then, the foreign trade surplus of China's machinery industry has increased year by year. It surpassed the big step of 100 billion U.S. dollars and reached 111 billion U.S. dollars; in 2020, the surplus climbed to 150 billion U.S. dollars, and only one year later, by 2021, the foreign trade surplus will continuously exceed two big steps of 200 billion U.S. dollars and 300 billion U.S. dollars. , rapidly increased to 314.4 billion US dollars, which can be said to have achieved an exponential rise. Cai Weici said that although the growth rate of foreign trade in the machinery industry has far exceeded expectations in recent years, whether this trend can continue requires careful study. He believes that among the troikas driving economic growth, import and export are relatively strong at present, but among the factors that have promoted the ultra-high-speed growth of foreign trade in recent years, which are the inevitable factors that can play a long-term role (such as industrial structure adjustment and upgrading); which ones? It is an accidental factor that plays a greater role in a short period of time,(such as China's industrial resilience under the new crown epidemic and the additional international market share it has gained), these need further careful analysis. And through this analysis to obtain a more objective and calm understanding of the foreign trade situation, so as not to fall into a one-sided cognition.
Regarding the economic operation of the industry in the future, he put forward four suggestions:
One is to continue to promote the transformation and upgrading of the industry itself, which is the most fundamental reason to ensure the sustained and steady growth of foreign trade in the machinery industry;
The second is to continue to pay close attention to the impact of the new crown epidemic on the industry, and call on relevant departments to solve the difficulties for enterprises;
The third is to pay attention to the impact of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on import and export trade, and suggest that relevant departments help machinery companies reduce risks and seize opportunities in trade with Russia;
Fourth, we must be fully mentally prepared for the pressure and challenges that the machinery industry may face in the international market next year, and we must not be blindly optimistic. Especially in areas with rapid export growth such as automobiles, photovoltaics, and lithium-ion batteries, it is necessary to increase crisis awareness. In short, the import and export of the machinery industry should not fluctuate too much due to insufficient preparation, and we must guard against possible twists and turns that will hinder the development of the machinery industry.

In 2022, although we have encountered many sudden difficulties and our development has been affected, the import and export trade has generally maintained growth, but the export growth rate has slowed down in August, which should draw our attention. In the second half of the year, the economic operation information conference held by the China Federation of Machinery predicted that the annual economic operation would grow by 5.5%. Goal with confidence. Whether next year's import and export situation can continue this year's momentum is the key task for us to study next year's economic operation.
